Environmental Responsibility at Select Security

Caring for the environment is a central part of our values. We view environmental protection as an integral aspect of our corporate social responsibility. Understanding the impact our business may have on the environment both locally and globally, we are dedicated to operating in an ethical, sustainable way across all facets of our business.

Our Carbon Footprint and GHG Impact

Our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Footprint represents the total amount of greenhouse gases produced by our company, measured in carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalents. Over time, the reliance on fossil fuels has led to a significant rise in atmospheric CO2 levels, contributing to global warming, climate change, and various natural disasters that have profound consequences for both the environment and human life. We recognize the urgency of addressing this issue and are committed to reducing our GHG emissions as part of our broader environmental responsibility.

Many companies' operations generate carbon emissions, either directly or indirectly, contributing to global warming and accelerating climate change. This growing environmental challenge calls for urgent action to reduce emissions and adopt sustainable practices.

Our Environmental Initiatives

In order to combat climate change, Select Security has implemented the following initiatives:

  • We prioritize hiring locally whenever possible, supporting our community while also reducing employee travel-related carbon emissions.
  • We actively encourage remote working for a significant portion of our head office employees across the UK, minimizing travel-related carbon emissions.
  • We utilize Google Suite across the organization for communication and conduct most meetings via Google Meet to reduce travel-related carbon emissions.
  • We are committed to a paperless office environment, investing in advanced IT solutions to minimize waste generation and reduce landfill contamination.
  • We actively reduce waste by turning off unnecessary power and heating, optimizing transport costs, and ensuring the efficient use of equipment and machinery.
  • Our state-of-the-art Head Office features a temperature-controlled ventilation system, automatic light shut-off, instant hot water taps, and other energy-efficient solutions to minimize energy consumption.
  • We actively encourage our customers and supply chain partners to assess and minimize their environmental impact through sustainable practices.
  • We conduct ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) reporting in collaboration with Enistic Carbon Management to assess and improve our energy efficiency.
  • We conduct SECR (Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting) with Enistic Carbon Management, tracking and reporting annual data across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions to enhance our sustainability efforts.
  • We publish annual sustainability reports, making them available to all stakeholders and accessible to the public on our website.
  • This policy undergoes an annual review or is updated as necessary when significant changes occur that may impact its provisions.
